Picnic/BBQ Fun Accordion Book

I recently joined the Cricut.com website at the urging of my BFF/Scrapbook Mentor, The Football Mom, and I tried their Monthly Challenge as motivation to create something to display during the summer months.  As I completed this project I learned one important fact -- it's time for a new cutting mat! I cut, and recut more times than I care to share, and because of the mat, some of my designs are not as sharp as I'd like for them to be.  I'm going to be okay with it this time, but next time, it's on!

Supplies Used:
  • Cricut Simply Charmed Cartridge - images/words
  • DCWV Summer Stack - printed paper
  • Michael's Box of Scraps - solid paper

Slumber Party!

I had so much fun with my first challenge that I thought I would try another one.  This one is from the color throwdown: the original throwdown challenge .  The challenge was rainbow and the entries so far have been amazing!  I decided to doubly challenge myself and I did not use any new paper.  I used scraps for all of the diecuts and left over paper from a pack I've had for *years* as my backgound paper.   If you knew me, you'd know that I do not like the "flatness" of regular cardstock and I tend to go for textured paper.  Well, when I was creating the LO the first time I used lime green untextured, non-patterned paper and it was too flat for me.  I tried other patterned paper and it didn't seem to match, and when I found the dotted paper, it was exactly what I was looking for!  I believe it came from a summer scrap pack that I bought many, many, years ago but I'm not for sure.

Anyhow, I truly enjoyed this challenge and look forward to doing more! Have a great day & try to stay cool!

Supplies used:
  • Michael's Box of Scraps - red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, black, white
  • Summer Scrap Pad - polka dot paper
  • Cricut Lite Slumber Party cartridge
  • Alene's Paper Glaze
  • Studio g Glitter Glue - green, white, pink
I used the glitter glue on the food items - green/pizza, white/popcorn, and pink/cupcake.  I also used the Paper Glaze on the words: slumber/title, color letters/words in "spend the night", color letters/words in "no sleeping allowed", pepperoni/pizza, entire pieces of popcorn, icing/cupcake.

My First Challenge...

I've been looking for something to inspire me to pull out the Cricut and get to crafting.  As I begin to visit random blogs, I came across the site of a DT member of Die Cuttin Divas who mentioned something about a new challenge.  I popped over there and found the inspiration I was looking for!  I missed the first one, the summer challange, but got it all together for the shaped card challenge. I had so much fun doing this, and I look forward to getting creative with other challenges I have found!  Hope you are able to stay cool -- I'm really trying my best!

Supplies Used:

  • Cricut Locker Talk cartridge
  • Cricut Beyond Birthdays cartridge
  • Michael's Box of Scraps - Lavender, Yellow, & Brown
  • Paperbilities Basic White
  • Paperbilities Basic Black
  • Studio g Glitter Glue - Purple, Yellow, Brown, Black, & White
  • Alene's Craft Glue

    Club Penguin Puffle painting

I painted these puffles for my daughter who is a big time Club Penguin Fan.  I painted a red puffle for her cousin's birthday and once she saw it, in came her request.  She told me she wanted a Pink Puffle, I added a Purple and Red Puffle because those are our favorite colors and she decided on the green one and the background colors.  I love the brightness of the picture and can't wait to find a spot in her room to hang it.

    Back in the Saddle Again...

My job has a funny effect on me...  When I'm busy working, it seems as if I'm too busy to play.  Now don't get me wrong.  I love my job and I love what I do, but I also enjoy my ME time when I have a chance to do fun things. And for me, one of my favorite things to do is paper crafting: scrapbooking, stamping, card making, and crafts.  This year I decided that I'm worth the time, and now it's time for follow through.

I'm hoping to gain some inspiration as I look at others blogs as well as possibly becoming a source of inspiration for others.  Until then, I will post a few pics of some of the things I've made so far.  Then plan is to return soon when I've made something in my newly decorated scrapbook room!

Until then -- be kind to one another and smile!
